Dr. Herb Price

Dr. Herb Price | Optometrist

Dr. Price graduated from Indiana University in 1968 with a Bachelor of Arts degree. He received his Doctor of Optometry degree from Indiana University School of Optometry in 1971. He then started his Family Eye Care practice in Logansport, Indiana. Dr. Price evaluates and treats all types of vision problems and eye health conditions. His special interest is in sports vision for athletes. He was on the National Sports Festival Olympic Vision Testing Team and Director of Vision Services for the Pan American Games. Dr. Price also was honored with the Meritorious Service Award by the Indiana Optometric Association. 20/20 Magazine recognized Dr. Price as one of the top 30 Optometrists in the United States. In 2003, he was named Optometrist of the Year in Cass County.

Dr. Price is a member of the Indiana Optometric Association and the American Optometric Association. He has lectured on the subject of Sports Vision and Optometric Practices Management throughout the United States. Dr. Price is a member of the Logansport Rotary Club, Cass County Chamber of Commerce, Fulton County Chamber of Commerce and the IU Alumni Association.

His wife, Patti, is a sales representative for Viva International. They have a son, David, who owns Priceless Banners in Logansport and a daughter, Monica, who is an Optometrist with offices in Greenfield and New Castle. They also have four grandchildren. Dr. Price’s hobbies are golf, boating, playing cards, IU athletics and Colts football.

Dr. Kathy Shepler

Dr. Kathy Shepler | Optometrist

Dr. Shepler graduated from Logansport High School in 1981. She received a Bachelor of Science degree with High Distinction in 1986 from Indiana University and a Doctor of Optometry degree with High Honors in 1988 from the Indiana University School of Optometry.

Dr. Shepler completed a one year residency program at the West Side VA Hospital and Hines Blind Center in Chicago which provided advanced training in the diagnosis and management of eye diseases. Dr. Shepler joined Dr. Price’s practice in 1989. She was also an associate clinical instructor at the Indiana University Indianapolis Eye Clinic from 1989-1993 where she supervised the training of students.

Dr. Shepler is a member of the Indiana Optometric Association, American Optometric Association and Beta Sigma Kappa Honor Society.

Dr. Shepler is a member of the Cass County Chamber of Commerce, Fulton County Chamber of Commerce, Indiana University Alumni Association and former president of the Cass County United Way Board. She was past chairperson of Logansport Memorial Hospital Board of Trustees and is an active member of All Saints Parish. She was recognized by the Chamber of Commerce as “Business Woman of the Year”.

Her husband, Dave, is owner of Shepler Construction Company, Inc. They have three daughters, Allison, Christine and Natalie. Dr. Shepler enjoys reading, boating and spending time with family and friends.

Dr. Scott Caughell

Dr. Scott Caughell | Optometrist

Dr. Scott J Caughell brings unique training and expertise to the Rochester area. Dr. Caughell is experienced in a wide variety of eye care, including wellness eye exams, eye disease diagnosis and management (glaucoma, eye infections), specialty contact lenses, and diabetic eye care in patients of all ages. In addition, he is one of less than a handful of eye doctors in Indiana to complete a post doctoral fellowship in pediatric eye care and binocular vision. This specialty includes infant and childhood examination, diagnosis and treatment of eye turns and "lazy-eye", headaches and eyestrain, learning related vision problems, childhood eye disease, double vision, post stroke vision care, and vision therapy.

Dr. Caughell is a lifelong Hoosier and is looking forward to serving the people of Rochester. He graduated from the Indiana University School of Optometry in 2006 with high honors. In addition to the pediatric training, he has been inducted as a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry. Currently less than 10% of practicing optometrists have earned this distinction. Dr. Caughell is in private practice in Warsaw, Indiana. Dr. Caughell will be seeing patients in the Rochester Office of Drs. Price & Shepler on Mondays.

Dr. Caughell is a 1997 graduate of Logansport High school. Outside of work he likes spending time with his wife and two young boys, attending church activities, and a host of outdoor activities.

Marcia Campbell

Marcia Campbell | Office Director

After moving to Cass County from California, Marcia has lived in Royal Center since 1967. She worked for Pioneer School Corporation at the elementary and high school level for several years. She and her husband, Dale A. owned Campbell Machine Shop. Her early years were spent raising their two sons. Dale L. & April have 4 daughters, 1 son and 3 grandchildren. Matt and Becky have 2 sons and 2 daughters. Marcia’s sons are very active with family and work. They both have careers in law enforcement. Her hobbies are sewing, computer designs, and most important, her grandchildren. She also likes to travel.

Marcia attended college in Riverside, California, which is where her mom still resides. She has attended several classes and seminars to further her education in the eye care business. She feels a person should never stop learning new things in life whether it is with work or family.

Marcia started working with Dr. Price in 1988 and a year later Dr. Shepler joined his practice. She has worked in various areas of the office. Marcia enjoys her work very much because it consists of a variety of daily tasks from business administration work to problem solving and staff counseling. Opening the new office in Rochester has been very exciting with designing and organizing each room to make the first day run as smoothly as possible for the doctors, staff and patients.

She feels that having a very efficient staff in both locations makes an enjoyable work day. She has trained staff members to have specific areas of expertise and they can assist in most other areas to better serve the patients. Her number one objective is to provide the best in quality eye care.

Karen Hardy

Karen Hardy | Optician/Insurance Coordinator

Karen’s family moved from Wisconsin to Logansport when she was young.  She met her husband,  Mike, and moved to Lake Cicott.  They have 2 daughters.  Stacie and her husband, Jason Criswell, have two sons, Ethan and Easton.  Kristen is married to Payton Farrer and they have two daughters, Kendalyn and Alexis.  Karen’s favorite thing to do is play with her grandchildren.  She enjoys scrapbooking and reading.

Karen began her career in the eye care business in 1974.  She assisted the doctor in all areas of the optometric practice.  Her specialty is assisting patients with frame & lens selection.  She enjoys providing the latest technology in eyewear to compliment the patient’s life style.  Karen has attended many seminars to further her education in both optical and insurance procedures.  She files insurance claims and helps the patient understand their vision benefits.  

Haley Coffing

Trish McKinney | Receptionist/Technician

Trish is a Carroll County native. After a short time in California and Ohio, Trish and her husband, Lew, moved to the Logansport area in 1969. For many of those years they owned a TV and Appliance Sales and Service business. Lew now enjoys working in the appliance sales area at Lowe’s. They have two daughters. Stacey, who is married to Scott and lives in San Antonio, Texas. Scott & Stacey have one daughter, Lauren and twin sons Kyle and Evan. Their daughter, April, lives in Lafayette and is a surgical technician.

Trish has worked part time for Drs. Price & Shepler since 1999. She performs many multi-task duties such as making appointments, insurance authorizations, computer patient data entries, informing patients of fees and collecting payments. She administers Visual Fields and Retinal Photo tests on patients at the request of the doctors. Trish works in both Logansport and Rochester offices.

Lisa Hood

Lisa Hood | Receptionist/Technician

Lisa lives in Logansport with her husband, Larry, who is a Motor Carrier Inspector for Indiana and a member of Logansport City Council. Their daughter, Mariah, attends Logansport High School and is very active in school academic organizations.

She is a member of the Main Street Methodist Church. Her hobbies are cross stitching, embroidering and spending time with family and traveling.

Lisa has worked for Drs. Price and Shepler since 2004. She assists the doctors in many areas. Her duties as a receptionist allow her the opportunity to assist patients in scheduling their appointments, managing patient recalls and performing needed tests such as Retinal Health photos on patients with specific eye conditions. She organizes and orders medical supplies for the office. Lisa also assists Dr. Shepler with eye exams and glasses for Special Needs Children at Camelot Care Center.

Haley Coffing

Haley Coffing | Assistant Office Director

Haley lives in Twelve Mile with her husband, Jason. They have two daughters, and two sons. Izabella and Abbagail are in elementary school. Jesse is in high school and Ryan is in middle school. She enjoys swimming, reading, riding their Harley, and spending time with family.

Haley has been in the eye care business since 2001. She has worked in all areas of the optometric practice. During that time she helped with insurance, checking in patients, billing, and providing the best care to the patients. She enjoys working with the public and always feels like they deserve the very best in eye care.

In the short time she has been at Drs. Price & Shepler’s Office, she has observed in the doctors and their staff a quality that she believes all patients should expect from their eye care professional. Haley looks forward to seeing patients in both Logansport and Rochester office.

Julie Zellers

Julie Zellers | Optometric Assistant

Julie grew up in Logansport and is now living in Rochester with her husband, Jeff. They have two sons, Josh and Brayden, and two daughters, Alexis and Carly.

She enjoys coaching gymnastics, riding their Harleys, and most of all spending time with her family.

She is very excited to be part of the eye care team and helping the Rochester office grow. Julie enjoys assisting patients with their eye care needs and is very focused on giving patients the best eye care products and service.

Trina Smith

Trina Smith | Optometric Assistant

Trina and her husband, Ken, are both Cass county natives and were high school sweethearts. The home they built in 1994 has become a place of gathering for family and friends. Grandchildren, Emma, Alex, and Audrey Rose enjoy spending time at the farm, driving the go-cart and Papaw's antique tractor. Ken and Trina have been married 40+ years. Ken has been pastor for over 25 years serving in churches in Crawfordsville, Loogootee and Logansport. For the past 8 years, they have been at Hickory Grove Church in Carroll County.

Trina enjoys cooking, reading, collecting cook books and traveling. Their number one priority is spending as much time together as possible. Being close to the grandchildren and watching them grow has been a joy and a blessing.

Trina has been in customer service and office management area for many years. She works primarily in our Rochester Office and enjoys assisting patients in scheduling their appointment, insurance inquiries and helping with their eye care needs. She looks forward to helping in the continued growth of the Family Eye Care Office.

Melissa Lowry

Melissa Lowry | Optometric Assistant

Melissa Lowry has joined the staff at Drs. Price and Shepler Family Eye Care as an Optometric Assistant. Melissa recently attended the Fall Optometric Education Program at Interstate Optical in Indianapolis.

Melissa is new to the eye care industry and is very eager to learn all of the aspects of the eye care business. Melissa is also looking forward to meeting and assisting patients with their eye care needs.

Melissa is a 2003 graduate of Logansport High School and a 2007 graduate of IUPUI with a bachelor's degree in Health Administration. Melissa and her husband, Mark just moved back to Logansport from Brownsburg, Indiana with their daughter, Camryn. In her spare time, Melissa enjoys spending time with her family & friends.
